“I have been interested in architecture, its form, space and integration of light. The interplay of these elements is the inspiration for my work. As time has gone by, the right angles of traditional architecture have seemed less important to me than the swirling of palms and unraveling of flowers and fronds. Movement and growth in relation to architecture are more compelling to me.”
Artist Information
Linda’s background includes an MFA from The Ohio State University. She began applying her designs to the quilt medium in 1980. Her persistent interest in quiltmaking as an art form led her to co-found the Quilt Surface Design Symposium in 1990, which is currently in its thirty-first year and is held at the Columbus College of Art and Design each spring. She is the recipient of an Ohio Arts Council Grant, a Greater Columbus Arts Council Grant, a Ford Foundation Grant, and a three-month art residency in Leipzig Germany from the Greater Columbus Arts Council. Her works can be found in the National 4H Conference Center in Washington, DD, the Merck Pharmaceutical Building in Philadelphia, Fidelity Investments center in Cincinnati, Ohio, the Hospice Center in Dayton, Ohio, the Good Samaritan Hospital in Springfield, Ohio, the University of Cincinnati Hospital, and in the Columbus collections of Price Waterhouse, Huntington National Bank, The Ohio State University, J.C. Penny Company, the Main Library, six brand libraries, and many private collections.
